What is a pop socket?

A popsocket is a plastic addon to your mobile phone, smartphone or tablet, which can be stuck on almost any device or phone case. Each pop socket consists of a “platform”, the round base disc that you stick to your mobile, the accordion, the part that allows pulling out and pushing the pop socket back in, and a “button” or disk, a round disc made of aluminum or hard plastic with a nice print on it. The platform is equipped with a strong adhesive gel, which sticks to almost every smartphone and smartphone case without too much structure. This means that the product cannot be used once, but can be used again and again. You can gently pull the pop socket off the platform and reattach it in a different location. When the popsocket platform gets dirty, you can rinse it and the popsocket will stick. When not in use, the Popsocket must be parked on a smooth surface. When the Popsocket is left in the open air for 15 minutes, the glue or gel will dry out. The Popsocket will then no longer stick. Moving the Popsocket can be done more than 100 times without any problems. The popping in and out of the Popsocket is called popping and this can easily be done more than 12000 times per popsocket before the accordion fails.

The first application of the popsocket: storing the earphones

When you have stuck two pop sockets on your mobile, you can easily wrap your ears around them. You pop them in and the ears stay in place. When you need them again, just unroll them. That saves time and aggravation. The ears are no longer tangled.

The second popsocket application: more control over your device

This is actually its main function. When you stick the Popsocket in such a way that your hand can easily slide over it, your smartphone is super stable in your hand. You can hold your mobile with one hand and app at the same time. The Popsocket ensures that you no longer have to hold your mobile tightly, but it lies loosely in your hand, while it cannot fall. The chance that your phone will still fall is small. Thanks to the Popsocket, your smartphone is more on your hand than in your hand and unwanted pressing of keys is a thing of the past. The popsocket can of course be used on any device you want to have more control over, a digital compass, a tool or a scanner.

The third application: the standard

When you pull out the Popsocket completely, maximum pop, you can put your mobile upright on the table. You can then watch videos or read news on your smartphone in a relaxed manner. The smartphone is based on the Popsocket.

Does the Popsocket work on any device or case?

A popsocket works on most smartphones and smartphone cases as well as tablets, but there are some exceptions. The adhesive layer may have some difficulty sticking to cases made of materials such as silicone, leather or material with a lot of structure. Also on devices with a waterproof coating or an anti-fingerprint coating, sticking can be a bit more difficult. In some cases this can be solved by pressing the socket firmly on the device or case and holding it for at least 10 seconds. After this you will have to be patient, because to ensure that it sticks, it is best not to touch the pop socket for about 8 hours, so do not "pop" it while drying. However, some devices, such as the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus and the iPhone X, have an anti-fingerprint coating, which prevents a socket from sticking.
