How to Keep Your Unicycle Smooth, Stable, and Safe to Use
How to keep your unicycle running smoothly and safely
A squeaky wheel, a wobbly saddle, or a flat tire? No worries. With a few quick checks, your unicycle will stay in top shape—and you'll stay stable on that one wheel.
1. Tire pressure – not too hard, not too soft
If your tire is too soft, you'll pedal harder and be more likely to get a flat. Too hard? Then you'll bounce over every pavement.
Use a bicycle pump with a pressure gauge (and a car valve), or trust your feeling: firm, but still a little flexible is perfect.
In this video you can see how it's done:
2. Saddle wobbles? Here's how to fix it
Does your saddle turn while riding? Then the saddle clamp is probably too loose. Fortunately, it's a quick fix.
Tighten the clamp's wheel a little until you can press it firmly shut. Not too loose, not too tight—just right. Tight is tight.
Here's how to adjust it perfectly:
3. Bearings clean and smooth
Is your wheel creaking or not running smoothly? Then your bearings deserve some TLC. A quick clean and you're good to go.
Use a soft cloth or brush, and if necessary, a small amount of High Speed Bearing Oil . Don't overdo it; a drop is enough.
4. Small check, big difference
Check everything every now and then:
- Pedals firmly in place?
- Saddle and wheel stable?
- Everything feels solid? Good.
This way you avoid surprises while driving (except positive ones).
